The Maldives has secured bronze in the World’s Most Desirable Island(s) category at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025, reaffirming its strong appeal among UK and global travellers. The award was accepted by Ibrahim Shiuree, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, at a ceremony held at London’s National Gallery, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate outstanding achievements across 22 travel categories. This year’s results were determined by 208,000 Wanderlust readers, who cast 4.8 million votes, reflecting genuine traveller sentiment and continued admiration for the Maldives. Shiuree said the recognition highlights the deep connection between British travellers and the Maldives’ natural beauty, culture, and authentic experiences. Now in its 24th year, the awards remain one of the travel industry’s most respected honours.
