The nationwide telethon organised by Maldivian media outlets has raised more than MVR 5.7 million to assist Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah.

The fundraising programme, which began at 9:00 am on Sunday, is scheduled to continue until 2:00 pm today. As of 8:30 am this morning, total donations had reached MVR 5,087,837 and USD 41,641.

Contributions have poured in from members of the public, private sector companies, government offices, and various organisations across the Maldives, reflecting strong national solidarity with Sri Lanka during the crisis.

Donations can be made through Bank of Maldives accounts, directly at Public Service Media (PSM), or via specially placed donation boxes across Malé City.

Sri Lanka has declared a state of emergency as Cyclone Ditwah continues to impact communities, causing widespread damage and disruption. The Maldivian telethon forms part of a broader regional effort to provide humanitarian support during this critical period.
