President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has departed the United Kingdom after participating in the High-Level Briefing on Private Capital Mobilisation in London, hosted by His Majesty King Charles III. The meeting brought together global leaders to discuss accelerating efforts to unlock private capital for sustainability initiatives.

Convened under the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), the session gathered heads of major multilateral development banks and senior figures from international finance to advance strategies that support global climate and development objectives.

During the briefing, President Dr Muizzu highlighted the urgent financing needs of the Maldives and other Small Island Developing States, particularly in addressing climate-related vulnerabilities. He contributed to discussions on expanding debt-for-climate and debt-for-nature initiatives and underscored the need for stronger private sector engagement in green finance.

President Dr Muizzu’s participation, at the invitation of His Majesty King Charles III, reaffirms the Maldives’ commitment to securing equitable and effective access to sustainable finance. The meeting is a significant step forward towards bridging public climate ambition with private investment.
