Fenaka Corporation has announced that it will waive water bills for Fuvahmulah City for November, following widespread disruptions caused by issues in the island’s water supply network.

In a statement, Fenaka said residents experienced significant difficulties in recent weeks, including water shortages and low pressure, as essential repair works were carried out on the city’s network. The company said the decision to forgo billing was made to ease the burden on households affected by the disruption.

Fenaka also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to upgrade the water supply system in Fuvahmulah to ensure more reliable and higher-quality service. The corporation expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and cooperation during the disruptions.

Water services in Fuvahmulah were suspended on 10 November after impurities were detected in the network, prompting an inter-agency response led by Fenaka Corporation, the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA), the Health Protection Agency (HPA), and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). During the suspension, MNDF transported bottled water by sea and air, distributing thousands of litres to residents. The issue was resolved by 13 November 2025.
