National airline Maldivian will begin seaplane operations to Noonu Velidhoo next month, with the inaugural flight scheduled for 23rd. The airline will operate services twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Fridays, as part of efforts to boost tourism in the atoll and improve travel convenience for residents and visitors. To support commuters, Maldivian introduced a special one-way seaplane fare of MVR 999 for Maldivians. The launch follows President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to establish a permanent seaplane platform in Velidhoo, alongside plans to introduce a sea ambulance service next year, during his visit to the island.
