Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka has expressed his gratitude to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for his message of sympathy and the generous assistance extended by the Maldives to Sri Lanka.

He stated that the solidarity shown by the Maldives is deeply reassuring to the nation and its people, describing the continued support as a reflection of the longstanding ties between the two countries.

The Maldives was the first nation to respond to Sri Lanka’s call for aid following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. In his message to President Disanayaka, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed that the Maldives stands in full solidarity with Sri Lanka and its people.

The Maldivian Government has donated USD 50,000 towards relief efforts, while organisations, ministries, institutions, media outlets, businesses, and the public have collectively raised over MVR 12.3 million through the State media-led Cyclone Aa Eku Dhiveheen telethon.
