President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed planted trees in Raa Dhuvaafaru as part of the Five Million Tree Program during their one-day official visit to the island on Saturday.

The tree planting activity forms part of the President’s nationwide environmental programme, which is the largest tree-planting initiative ever undertaken in the Maldives. The Five Million Tree Program aims to restore endangered tree species, enhance greenery across the country and promote long-term environmental sustainability.

Ministry of Tourism and Environment statistics show a total of 800,190 trees have been planted so far this year under the Five Million Tree Program.
