The Maldives’ newly appointed Non-Resident High Commissioner to Mauritius, Masood Imad, formally presented his Letters of Credence to President Dharambeer Gokhool.
During the credential presentation at the State House in Port Louis, High Commissioner Imad conveyed greetings and messages of goodwill from Dr Mohamed Muizzu to President Gokhool, as well as to the Government and people of Mauritius. The ceremony underscored the longstanding friendly relations between the Maldives and Mauritius and reflected ongoing efforts to further strengthen diplomatic engagement.
President Gokhool congratulated High Commissioner Imad on his appointment and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure, expressing confidence in continued cooperation between the two island nations. Discussions during the visit are expected to focus on advancing bilateral ties, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation within multilateral platforms.
As part of his official programme, High Commissioner Imad is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Dhananjay Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius. The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to exchange views on expanding collaboration across regional and international forums.
High Commissioner Imad currently serves as the Maldives’ High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and will concurrently hold the position of Non-Resident High Commissioner to Mauritius, with residence in Colombo.
Welcoming the development, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel said he was confident that the friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Mauritius would continue to grow during High Commissioner Imad’s tenure.
