25th National Cadet Camp inaugurated at Girifushi Training Centre

The 25th National Cadet Camp has officially been inaugurated at the Girifushi Training Centre, bringing together 120 cadets from across the Maldives for a two-week training programme from from 27 December 2025 to 8 January 2026 organised by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Commanding Officer of MNDF’s College of Defence and Security Studies and the Maldives National Cadet Corps, Brigadier General Abdulla Ibrahim, who presided over the event.

Camp Commander Captain Mohamed Mustafa delivered the welcoming remarks, while the cadet pledge was administered by Chief Instructor First Lieutenant Ahmed Maumoor. Senior Enlisted Leader First Sergeant Ahmed Aboobakuru presented pledge certificates to participating students.

A total of 90 male cadets and 30 female cadets are enrolled in this year’s programme. Training activities include Physical Training, Watermanship, Drill, Weapon Training, Shooting Practice, Basic Field Craft, Combatives, Leadership Development, Basic Firefighting, Maritime Studies, First Aid and Professional Development sessions. Instruction will be provided by MNDF officers and teachers under the College of Defence and Security Studies.

According to MNDF, the objective of the camp is to develop responsible and community-minded young citizens capable of assisting in emergency situations in a disciplined and systematic manner. The programme also aims to instil religious and national values, introduce participants to basic military skills, and promote unity and cooperation among cadets from different regions of the country.

The ceremony was attended by senior MNDF personnel, including Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Jinan, Deputy Commanding Officer of the Maldives National Cadet Corps, alongside officers, instructors and school-based cadet trainers.
