A new Child Health Clinic has begun services at the recently opened Urban Primary Health Care Centre in the Greater Malé Region, offering growth monitoring, vaccination and nutrition support for children.

According to the Urban Primary Health Care Centre, the Child Health Clinic provides services including Vitamin A supplementation and deworming, growth monitoring, infant and young child feeding (IYCF) counselling, and child vaccination. Vitamin A supplementation and deworming services are available from Sunday to Thursday, 08:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 01:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Growth monitoring is conducted every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 02:00 p.m.

Vaccination services operate by appointment, with timings scheduled for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 08:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 01:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Monday and Thursday from 08:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The clinic is open Saturday to Thursday, 08:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and appointments or enquiries may be made via 3038600 / 3038607.

The Urban Primary Health Care Centre was inaugurated on 19 November 2025 under the Government’s programme to expand preventive and primary healthcare. The centre accommodates general practitioner consultations, family medicine appointments, treatment for common illnesses, laboratory testing, X-ray services, minor procedures, prescription drop-box renewal and access to a pharmacy.

In addition to child health services, the facility offers wellness consultations, smoking cessation support, travel-related vaccinations and guidance on forming healthier lifestyle habits. The initiative aligns with the Administration’s stated priority to advance preventive healthcare and reduce future medical burden through early intervention.

The Government has announced plans to open five additional facilities of the same model in the Greater Malé Region, with three centres to be established in Malé City and two in Hulhumalé. Strengthening the health sector has been listed as a key component of the 2026 national budget, with public health infrastructure identified as a central focus.
