Vice President highlights radio’s role in delivering accurate information

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef has underscored the importance of radio in delivering accurate information and supporting national development, stating that Voice of Maldives remains a central platform in strengthening the country’s social fabric.
Speaking during the Baajjaveri Hendhuneh programme, the Vice President said that radio has consistently served as a trusted medium for public communication, recalling how the station has provided uninterrupted national service for more than six decades. He praised Voice of Maldives for its role in disseminating verified news, raising public awareness and contributing to the well-being of communities across the country. He also expressed appreciation to former and current staff for their dedication to ensuring accurate information reaches citizens.
Reflecting on the long history of the station, the Vice President shared personal memories of the influence radio had on his early interest in football through match commentary broadcasts. He noted that Baajjaveri Hendhuneh prohramme remains particularly significant, adding that it continues to highlight key issues, promote community values and encourage civic responsibility.
Looking ahead, the Vice President said he hopes to see Voice of Maldives expand further through modern technology and digital platforms, enabling the station to deliver up-to-date information, entertainment for all age groups, and programmes that preserve cultural identity. He reiterated that radio continues to play a vital role in public communication, describing it as one of the most important tools for providing reliable information to citizens.
