Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has announced plans to revise waste collection fees for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in line with a pledge made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, WAMCO said the revised fee structure will take effect from 1 February 2026. The company said discussions are currently underway to introduce a tiered system aimed at reducing costs for SMEs.
WAMCO said details of the proposed fee bands will be shared with businesses and the public in the coming days, once finalised.
President Dr Muizzu has declared the next two years as a dedicated period for implementing special measures to support SME development, following his meeting with SME representatives on 17 November 2025. In line with this policy direction, several Government agencies have begun announcing concessions and support initiatives for the sector.
As part of these efforts, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has also announced plans to establish storage and warehousing facilities in three regions of the country to support SMEs and reduce operational costs.
