Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that airport operations in the Maldives remain under national institutions.

In a post shared on his official X account, the Minister said that all international and domestic airports in the Maldives are managed and operated by Maldivian operators approved by the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority.

He stressed that the Government remains firmly committed to keeping airport operations within national institutions.

The Minister’s remarks follow reports suggesting that Hanimaadhoo International Airport may be handed over to a foreign company.
