Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced an invitation for bids for contractors to carry out the demolition of the former Thalassemia Centre, a site designated for the development of the Henveiru general practice (GP) clinic.

The announcement follows recent confirmation by the Male’ City Group of Hospitals (MCGH) that construction of the Henveiru GP clinic is scheduled to begin this month, as part of the Government’s initiative to expand primary healthcare services across the Greater Malé Region.

According to the invitation for bidding issued, the selected contractor will be required to complete demolition works within a period of 15 days. IGMH said bills of quantities and relevant drawings for the project are included in the tender documents on the Government Gazette under Announcement No. 137-IU/PR/2026/05.

IGMH stated that interested bidders must submit quotations in accordance with the specifications provided, including costs related to the disposal of demolition waste. Required documents include a business registration copy or identification documents for individual bidders, GST registration details if applicable, a one-month bank statement as of the announcement date, and reference of completion of similar work within the past three years.

The hospital said only bidders who submit all required documentation will be considered during evaluation, with the contract to be awarded solely based on price. Full marks will be allocated to the lowest bidder.

Pre-bid meetings are scheduled to be held at the former Thalassemia Centre until January 11, 2026, with participation in these meetings mandatory for eligibility. Bid submissions are due on January 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., and will be opened in the presence of bidders at the Procurement Department’s Anthurium Meeting Hall at IGMH.

IGMH noted that bids submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. The hospital also stated that bids may be cancelled if false or incomplete information is identified, or if there is a conflict of interest involving the bidder. Individuals found in violation may be barred from participating in tenders for a period of six months.

The demolition works is part of preparatory activities for the Henveiru GP clinic, which is one of six GP clinics planned under the current primary healthcare expansion programme. The initiative aims to ease congestion at major hospitals by strengthening community-level healthcare delivery.
