A total of 10 locations have been searched and four people arrested so far under Operation Alimagu, currently being conducted in Malé area and Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

Maldives Police Service said the operation was launched to disrupt drug laundering networks and take legal action against those involved. The operation began earlier today in both locations.

Enforcement actions in Gaafu Alifu Atoll include targeted searches of suspects as well as their associated premises. The operation is being carried out in collaboration with specialised units from the Southern Police Division, intelligence teams and the Drug Enforcement Department, using a coordinated, multi-agency approach.

Police said Operation Alimagu has so far been conducted across 39 islands nationwide. The operation aims to seize illicit drugs, dismantle organised criminal networks and enhance community safety, with relevant Government institutions and law enforcement agencies working jointly to achieve these objectives.
