Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that land reclamation works in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo have reached 36.61 per cent completion, with 41 hectares reclaimed to date.

Reclamation works for the Dhidhdhoo project commenced on 5 January 2026 and are currently being carried out using Leiv Eiriksson, one of the world’s largest trailing suction hopper dredgers, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres.

Once completed, the project will add approximately 115 hectares of new land to Dhidhdhoo. The reclaimed area is intended to support the development of the island’s airport, housing projects and essential community services.
