The People’s National Congress (PNC) has full confidence in the capabilities of its candidates contesting the Fuvahmulah City Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), Parliamentary Group Leader and Local Council Elections campaign manager Ibrahim Falah said.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of PNC’s campaign for the upcoming Local Council Elections in Fuvahmulah City, Falah said the party’s mayoral candidate and WDC president would work in close coordination to advance the city’s development.

“We have no doubt about the ability of the candidates contesting on the PNC ticket for all posts in Fuvahmulah,” Falah said.

Highlighting PNC as the largest political party in the Maldives, Falah noted that the party has fielded the highest number of candidates nationwide for the upcoming Local Council Elections. He said the party has nominated capable individuals to serve communities across all cities and islands.

Falah criticised the development record of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) administration, stating that projects implemented during its tenure were poorly executed. He cited islands in Raa Atoll, his home atoll, where water and sewerage systems were damaged even before services were launched.

Referring to the current Administration, Falah said the Government of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu is taking a planned approach to development by securing the necessary financing before implementing projects. He said funds required to complete several projects initiated by the previous administration had not been arranged at the time of transition.

“Our Government, our honourable President, the active Cabinet, heads of State-owned companies and relevant authorities are working to implement projects only after ensuring the funds required to complete them are in place,” he said.

Falah added that PNC is urging the public to elect its candidates so the President can deliver on his pledges at the fastest possible pace and ensure timely completion of development projects.

He said several projects needed by the people of Fuvahmulah have already begun and assured residents that the Government will accelerate their completion in the coming days.
