People’s National Congress (PNC) has secured the presidency of the Dhidhdhoo and Manadhoo Island Councils in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll without an election, as no other candidates contested the posts.

In Manadhoo, incumbent council president Mohamed Saeed was elected unopposed. The PNC also secured two seats in the island’s Women’s Development Committee, won by Samyia Hussain and Aisha Ishama, who contested on the party’s ticket.

In Dhidhdhoo, current council member Anis Mohamed was elected unopposed as council president. Ummuhani Hussain, also representing the PNC, secured the women’s reserved seat on the Dhidhdhoo Council, while Asma Saud was elected to the island’s Women’s Development Committee.

The PNC has also secured the council presidency seats in Alifu Dhaalu Baarah and Utheemu.

With these results, the PNC has secured multiple council and committee positions without an election due to the absence of rival candidates.

The party is contesting a record number of candidates in the ongoing Local Council Elections, further expanding its presence across island councils and Women’s Development Committees nationwide.
