Physiotherapy and mental health services have been officially launched at Noonu Atoll Hospital.

The services were inaugurated by Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of Health, at a special ceremony held at the hospital.

The hospital said the newly launched services were among the most requested by residents of Noonu Atoll, adding that plans are in place to further expand these services in the future. Preparations are also underway to introduce speech therapy services at the facility.

More than 120 patients receive treatment at Noonu Atoll Hospital each day. The hospital provided services to over 31,000 people last year.

Minister Nazim is scheduled to visit four islands in Noonu Atoll as part of his current tour. In addition to Manadhoo, the Minister will visit Maafaru, Maalhendhoo and Miladhoo.

During the visit, laboratory services are set to be inaugurated in the three islands. The establishment of laboratory facilities for testing common diseases across all islands remains a key pledge of the Government in strengthening healthcare services nationwide.
