A total of 63 hectares of land has been reclaimed so far under the Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo land reclamation project, marking 56.25 per cent completion of the overall works.

The project is being implemented by the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) to support airport development and housing in Dhidhdhoo. The full project involves the reclamation of 115 hectares of land.

The reclamation works commenced on 5 January 2026 and are progressing steadily.

The project is being carried out using Leiv Eiriksson, one of the world’s largest trailing suction hopper dredgers, with a hopper capacity of 46,000 cubic metres, enabling large-scale reclamation works to be completed efficiently.
