More than 32,000 cases of canned tuna have been distributed to households in the Greater Malé Region as of Monday night, figures released by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works show.

Distribution under the Roadha Hadhiyaa Programme began at 8:30 p.m. on 24 January and is being carried out in collaboration with several State-owned enterprises. As of the latest update, 32,628 cases have been issued from designated distribution centres in Malé City, Vilimalé and Hulhumalé.

Canned tuna is being distributed based on registered domestic electricity meters, with each meter treated as a single household. There are 65,230 registered domestic electricity meters in the Greater Malé Region.

Distribution is also underway in the atolls, where island and city councils are managing the delivery of canned tuna to households.

Under the Roadha Hadhiyaa Programme, a total of 118,673 households nationwide are scheduled to receive one case of canned tuna each. This includes 61,755 households in the Malé region and 56,918 households in the atolls.
