The People’s National Congress (PNC) has officially launched its campaign activities in the West Maafannu constituency ahead of the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections.

The campaign booth for the Maafannu West constituency was inaugurated on Tuesday by Vice President, Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef. The event was attended by senior party officials and candidates contesting various constituencies in Malé City.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President said the development needs of the country, including Malé City, are clearly defined. He said President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has been working to improve the country’s social environment since assuming office, noting that a structured development plan had already been formulated during his tenure as Mayor of Malé.

The Vice President said maintaining order in the city and ensuring safe access for pedestrians are key priorities, adding that cooperation from the Malé City Council is necessary to implement such measures.

He said the position of Mayor of Malé City should change in the upcoming election, adding that the PNC’s mayoral candidate is Major General (Rtd) Moosa Ali Jaleel.

The PNC has opened multiple campaign booths across the Greater Malé Region and in several atolls as part of its election campaign.
