The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has stated that individuals selected for flats under the Veshi Fahi Malé and Hiyaa housing projects, but who did not receive their units, may submit alternative documentation if they do not possess official letters confirming their allocation.

Under the Government’s “Housing for All” policy, a special category has been created for individuals who previously received confirmation letters under the Veshi Fahi Malé and Hiyaa projects but were not handed over flats. A total of 500 flats have been allocated for this category.

The Ministry explained that applicants who had received official letters confirming they would be allocated flats under the Hiyaa or Veshi Fahi Malé projects, but were not provided with the units, are eligible to apply under this special category.

If the original official allocation letter is unavailable, applicants may submit other official documents proving their inclusion in the flat allocation list. This may include documentation from a publicly released list issued by the relevant authority or other official records confirming eligibility.

The Hiyaa housing project was launched in 2017 by the then Government, while the Veshi Fahi Malé project was initiated in 2010 specifically for residents of Malé.

Under the Veshi Fahi Malé scheme, 160 individuals who had been deemed eligible for housing submitted complaints in 2020, stating they had not received flats despite being selected. Similarly, under various categories of the Hiyaa project, a number of individuals listed as eligible were not granted the opportunity to receive their units.

The Ministry stated that individuals who have lost their original allocation letters may still qualify, provided they can submit official documentation confirming their name appeared on the official list published at the time. Applications will be processed based on the criteria established for this category.

Applications for flats under the Government’s Housing for All scheme are open until 14 April 2026.
