The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development (MoHE) has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at expanding training, skills development and employment opportunities for Maldivian youth.

The first agreement was signed with Octopus Systems Private Limited to facilitate apprenticeship and internship programmes. The initiative will provide participants with practical training in a professional work environment while creating pathways to employment. As part of the programme, Octopus Systems will also provide mentorship and career guidance to participants requiring training and professional development support.

A second agreement was signed with Taskin LLP, a Maldivian digital freelancing platform. The partnership focuses on strengthening skills development and increasing employment opportunities within the country.

Both agreements are being implemented under the Sustainable and Integrated Labour Services (SAILS) project. The project is carried out by the Ministry in collaboration with the Maldives Pension Administration Office with support from the World Bank.

The SAILS project is designed to assist Maldivians in securing employment through career guidance services, job placement support, targeted skills development training and mentoring programmes.
