The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced its readiness to provide financial support to those affected by the recent fire.
Chief Executive of NDMA, Hisan Hassan informed PSM News that over 50 individuals have been identified as requiring relief support in the aftermath of the incident. Emergency sustenance has been provided to those in need, and some affected residents have been permitted to relocate to their family homes.
NDMA, working with the police force, are conducting rapid evaluations of buildings surrounding the site of the fire. According to Hisan, efforts are underway to facilitate the relocation of residents from potentially unsafe buildings to more secure accommodations.
“We are working to identify safe locations for relocation. If clearance is granted, we will proceed with moving affected individuals,” he stated.
NDMA has also indicated readiness to offer financial support to ensure adequate shelter is available during the emergency response.
In addition to the direct impact on residents, the fire has led to the suspension of morning classes at four schools in the area. Afternoon sessions will proceed only after a thorough assessment of the situation, Hisan confirmed.
