President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to construct 100 new residential units in ADh. Mahibadhoo, with construction set to begin in 2025. The housing initiative will be built on existing land within the island.

The announcement was made during the President's official visit to Mahibadhoo, where he met with local residents as part of his ongoing tour of Ari Atoll South.

The development is designed to transform Mahibadhoo into an urban centre, with plans extending to the Maafaru lagoon area. The President assured residents that the lagoon development would proceed with extensive community consultation and would exemplify proper urban planning principles.

The housing scheme forms part of the Administration's broader four-year development programme for the region. During his visit, President Dr Muizzu outlined this comprehensive strategy, which aims to implement targeted development initiatives that combine infrastructure improvements with community advancement, whilst remaining responsive to local requirements.
