Japanese Ambassador bids farewell to Maldives after two-year tenure

The Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Takeuchi Midori, paid a farewell call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, on December 15, 2024, marking the conclusion of her ambassadorial tenure.
During their meeting, Foreign Minister Dr Khaleel thanked Ambassador Takeuchi Midori for her significant contributions to strengthening Maldives-Japan relations and acknowledged Japan's generous support during her tenure.
In reponse, Ambassador Takuechi Midori expressed gratitude for the cooperation she received from the Maldivian Government and reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nations.
The discussion underscored the friendship between Japan and the Maldives, which celebrated its 57th anniversary on November 14, 2024.
Foreign Minister Dr Khaleel also highlighted Japan’s substantial contributions to the Maldives’ development, particularly in disaster management, infrastructure, education, and maritime security. Both sides reiterated their readiness to work together to further enhance the long-standing partnership.
Ambassador Takuechi Midori presented her credentials to then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on January 20, 2022, and has served as Japan’s Ambassador to the Maldives for more than two years.
