President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed condolences to President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. of the Philippines following the powerful earthquake that struck off the coast of Mindanao on 8 June.

In his message, President Dr Muizzu expressed deep sorrow over the disaster, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to many people.

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, the President extended sincere condolences to President Marcos, the government, and the people of the Philippines. He also conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the earthquake.

President Dr Muizzu further expressed his support for the people of the Philippines during this difficult time and conveyed his best wishes for the success of ongoing relief and recovery efforts.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao on Monday morning, leaving dozens dead and hundreds injured.
