Fenaka Corporation has announced that the water contamination issue in Fuvahmulah City has been resolved, with efforts now focused on repairing a leakage in the network before full restoration of services.

Speaking to State media, Fenaka Managing Director Ahmed Najah said the contamination had been caused by impurities in the water supply. He noted that the entire plant had been flushed and cleaned to address the issue, and that water production has since been completed.

Najah added that while the issue has been resolved, water distribution cannot resume until laboratory tests conducted by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) and other relevant agencies confirm safety standards. In the meantime, a leakage within the plant’s network is being repaired, with the company aiming to restore water services before sunset today.

Yesterday, Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office Heena Waleed said the issue was being closely monitored and that relevant authorities were working together to provide drinking water to affected residents.

Water disruptions in Fuvahmulah City began on Monday afternoon, prompting a coordinated response from multiple Government agencies.
