The Public Service Media (PSM) has announced a special telethon to support Sri Lanka, which has been severely affected by heavy rains caused by Cyclone Ditwa.

The telethon is scheduled for Sunday, 30 November 2025, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. PSM has invited all news media in the Maldives to participate, as well as citizens, community associations, clubs, and offices.

Sri Lanka shares close historical, cultural, and social ties with the Maldives, and PSM emphasised the importance of providing all possible assistance to the affected communities.

Cyclone Ditwah brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and widespread flooding across eastern and central Sri Lanka. The storm has caused significant damage to infrastructure, destroyed homes, and displaced tens of thousands of people. According to reports, the cyclone has claimed over 120 lives, with many more still missing, prompting urgent humanitarian needs.
