The State Trading Organisation (STO) has commemorated its 25th anniversary of collaboration with Hitachi, celebrating the milestone at a special ceremony held at Barceló Nasandhura on Friday, 28 November 2025.

Speaking on the occasion, STO highlighted Hitachi’s long-standing reputation in the global market and noted the steady growth of the brand’s presence in the Maldives over the past decade. Products such as Hitachi air conditioners and refrigerators have already become fixtures in many Maldivian households, reflecting increasing consumer confidence in the brand.

The event served as a symbolic testament to the enduring 25-year partnership between STO and Hitachi.

The ceremony was graced by the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, Ishigami Rumiko, who attended as the guest of honour. Senior leadership from Hitachi, including the Managing Director, joined STO Chairman Amir Mansoor, STO Board Members, STO Managing Director Shimad Ibrahim and other senior officials from both organisations.

A showcase of selected Hitachi products available in the Maldivian market formed part of the event. STO also recognised four loyal customers for their longstanding patronage of Hitachi appliances during the partnership period.

One of the highlights of the evening was the launch of Hitachi’s latest product range, further signalling the company’s commitment to innovation and the Maldivian market.

STO described the ceremony as an important step towards deepening the relationship between the two companies. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening mutual trust with Hitachi and celebrating future milestones as the partnership continues to evolve.
