Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has completed beautification works at Channel Park in Hulhumalé and reopened the public space for community use during Ramadan.

HDC said the initiative was carried out to enhance the environment of one of the most frequently visited public spaces in the Greater Malé Region, particularly during the evenings of Ramadan, when families and groups gather for iftar. As part of the works, the area was cleaned, landscaped and decorated with lighting, while waste bins were also installed to improve cleanliness and convenience for visitors.

Channel Park, which links Hulhumalé Phase I and Phase II, has seen a steady increase in visitors in recent years, with the area commonly used for picnics, recreational activities and swimming. HDC said the beautification works were aimed at making the space more comfortable and welcoming for families and the wider community during the holy month.

The corporation appealed to residents to help maintain the area, urging visitors to dispose of waste responsibly and refrain from polluting the surrounding waters or leaving belongings behind.
