Visit Maldives has announced plans to showcase Eid Al-Adha traditions and cultural practices from Raa Meedhoo through a five-day digital campaign beginning on 26 May.
The organisation stated that its live coverage from the island will be shared daily across its social media platforms and digital channels until 30 May.
The campaign will feature traditional Eid celebrations and customs practised on the island, including Vedhuma Dhiyun, Bodu Mas, Maali Neshun and Koadi Kendun. Visit Maldives stated that the coverage will include live updates, feature segments and behind-the-scenes content highlighting community activities and cultural traditions associated with Eid celebrations in the Maldives.
The initiative is aimed at promoting Maldivian culture and local island traditions as part of the country’s tourism experience.
Speaking regarding the campaign, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Ibrahim Shiuree said the initiative focuses on highlighting traditions and community celebrations that continue to be practised in the Maldives.
He also acknowledged the support of the people of Raa Meedhoo, including the communities of Hulhangu Avah and Irumathi Avah, as well as the Raa Meedhoo Island Council, for assisting with the initiative and facilitating the coverage of the island’s Eid celebrations.
Visit Maldives further stated that additional long-form content, including interviews and cultural features from Raa Meedhoo, will be released on its YouTube platform from next month onwards.
