SME Digital has announced a series of programmes in Fuvahmulah City and Addu City this month as part of its efforts to improve access to finance and support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the Maldives.
The company said a two-day engagement programme will be held in Fuvahmulah on June 10 and 11, with a particular focus on raising awareness of the Islamic microfinancing introduced by Bank of Maldives (BML) under the Maldives Islamic Social Finance Initiative (MISFI). The financing scheme is aimed at individuals, entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners who face challenges in accessing financial assistance.
SME Digital stated that the programme will include financial literacy sessions, one-on-one consultations with customers and assistance with submitting financing applications. The company is currently accepting applications for the microfinance product.
Following the Fuvahmulah programme, SME Digital will visit Addu City from June 13 to 18. During the visit, the company will meet with island councils, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration in SME development. Special sessions will also be held to inform businesses and entrepreneurs about available financing solutions and business growth opportunities.
SME Digital said the initiatives form part of its efforts to strengthen financial inclusion, expand access to Shariah-compliant financing and support the sustainable development of SMEs throughout the Maldives.
