President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Hassan Zareer as Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises.

The letter of appointment was presented to Minister Zareer during an official ceremony held at the President's Office on Monday afternoon.

Following the appointment, the oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Uz Mohamed Saleem, after which Minister Zareer signed the oath declaration.

Before assuming the ministerial post, Zareer served as the Commissioner General of Taxation. A qualified chartered accountant, he has extensive experience in taxation, auditing and finance, and has served in the public sector since 2000.

Minister Zareer's appointment follows the resignation of Moosa Zameer from the position of Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises earlier on Monday.
