Handover of the FIFA World Cup match ball to Mohamed Moosa (Uchchu)

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness has presented an official FIFA World Cup match ball to prominent Maldivian businessman Mohamed Moosa, widely known as Uchchu, in recognition of his longstanding contributions to sports in the Maldives.

The ball was one of several official FIFA World Cup match balls signed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and presented to the Ministry. It was formally handed over to Uchchu by State Minister Ibrahim Ameer during a special ceremony.

Uchchu is regarded as one of the Maldives' most prominent business figures and has been a longstanding supporter of sports development in the country, particularly football. Over the years, he has provided financial assistance to the national football team and sponsored numerous football tournaments and sporting events held across the Maldives.

The presentation follows a recent initiative by the Ministry to honour former Maldivian football legends with signed FIFA World Cup match balls in recognition of their contributions to the sport.

As part of its efforts to build excitement for this year's FIFA World Cup, the Ministry has also been organising a series of public engagement activities across the Greater Malé Region. These include live screenings of matches on giant screens and a weekly gaming carnival held every Friday evening at the Youth Hub.
