President highlights importance of sport in youth development on Olympic Day

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has highlighted the role of sport in empowering young people and helping them realise their full potential, in a message marking Olympic Day.

In a post shared on X, President Dr Muizzu paid tribute to athletes, coaches and aspiring young sportspeople, stating that they demonstrate how greatness begins with determination, exceptional self-discipline and remarkable courage.

The President said Olympic Day serves as a reminder that every journey begins with a single step. He added that the Government remains committed to creating opportunities for young people to embrace sport and physical activity, helping them build confidence, develop perseverance and realise their full potential.

President Dr Muizzu also expressed hope that sport would continue to empower young people, strengthen the nation and build bridges of friendship among people and countries around the world.

Olympic Day is observed annually on 23 June to commemorate the founding of the modern Olympic Movement and promote the values of sport and physical activity worldwide.
