The Maldives is participating in the 45th meeting of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where it is representing the interests of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in discussions on global climate finance and support for developing countries.

The four-day meeting, being held from 29 June to 2 July, will focus on the Fund's strategic priorities, operational policies and investment portfolio, with discussions aimed at strengthening financing for climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.

Representing the Maldives is Director General of the Climate Change Department Ajmad Abdulla, who serves as an Alternate Board Member for the SIDS constituency on the GCF Board. Through its role on the Board, the Maldives continues to advocate for equitable access to climate finance while ensuring the priorities and unique vulnerabilities of small island developing states are reflected in the Fund's work.

The Green Climate Fund is the world's largest multilateral climate finance mechanism, supporting developing countries in implementing projects and programmes to address climate change through mitigation and adaptation initiatives.

The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy said the Maldives' participation reflects the country's continued commitment to advancing the interests of climate-vulnerable nations and strengthening international support for global climate action.
