Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Heena Waleed has reaffirmed that no funds from the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) were used for the development or operation of MMTV.

Responding to a question from Kendhoo Member of Parliament Mauroof Zakir in Parliament, minister Heena said the matter had already been addressed through investigations conducted by the Auditor General's Office and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). She noted that both the Auditor General's Office and the ACC had subsequently cleared the agency of allegations that NSPA funds were used for MMTV.

The allegations stemmed from a five-year lease agreement involving a building owned by the family of former minister Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, which was leased for NSPA's operations. In 2024, the opposition claimed that the leasing of two floors of the building was linked to the establishment of MMTV.

Following the allegations, NSPA requested the ACC to investigate the matter in November 2024. The agency rejected claims that its funds, assets or employees had been used to operate the television channel or that rent for the building occupied by MMTV had been paid through NSPA.

NSPA also maintained that the lease agreement was executed in accordance with established Government procedures between the agency and the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises, and did not involve any other party.
