The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has begun transporting equipment for the installation of outdoor gym facilities in 71 islands across the Maldives.

The Government has set a target to establish outdoor gyms on all inhabited islands by 2026 as part of efforts to promote public health and fitness.

So far this year, a total of 102 outdoor gym projects have been awarded to various Government companies, with 71 projects assigned to HDC. In addition, seven projects have been awarded to private contractors.

The initiative is being implemented under HDC’s Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).
