Two individuals have been arrested after they were found inside a house that had been sealed under a court order in Addu City, with drugs allegedly in their possession.
Maldives Police Service said the suspects were arrested inside Ummeedhuge in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, a property that had previously been closed under the Drugs Act.
The suspects have been identified as Ahmed Sharath, 32, and Aishath Saleem, 37 of Maradhoo-Feydhoo.
Police said both suspects were presented before the court on 13 July, where they were remanded in custody for 15 days.
Ummeedhuge was sealed on 15 June following an order issued by the Maradhoo-Feydhoo Magistrate's Court after allegations that the premises were being used as a drug den.
Police reminded the public that entering or leaving premises sealed under a court order without authorisation is a criminal offence and warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found unlawfully entering or damaging such properties.
