The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a nationwide white alert with swell wave surges forecasted across the country from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

The MET Office stated swell wave surges are expected to affect islands nationwide during the alert period, with authorities advising the public to exercise caution, particularly during high tide. The latest forecast states that winds in the northern atolls will be west to northwesterly, while south to southwesterly winds are expected elsewhere, with speeds ranging between 5 and 15 miles per hour and gusts reaching 35 miles per hour during showers.

Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate, becoming moderately rough during showers, with wave heights expected to range between 2 and 5 feet. The Met Office has warned that islands could experience swell wave surges during high tide.

The latest alert comes a day after a swell surge affected several parts of Malé City, causing damage in the areas. Tidal waves swept rocks and sand onto Rasfannu Beach and damaged several vehicles, while the Industrial Village area was also inundated, resulting in damage to vehicles parked along the coastline.
