The Ministry of Health has announced that it has attended to 3,004 calls through the national mental health helpline since its launch.

In a post via X, the Ministry stated that this number represents the number of individuals who have received much-needed mental health support via the helpline.

Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim recently expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of mental health issues in the Maldives. He urged the public to prioritise compassion and care for one another.

The Government has made mental health care a national priority as part of its Hafuthaa 14 agenda. The mental health helpline, accessible by dialling 1677, was established in February 2024 to provide round-the-clock support to those in need.

The Ministry confirmed that the helpline continues to be widely utilised, reflecting the growing demand for mental health services across the country.
