The Maldives Immigration Authority has announced the introduction of passport issuance services on Saturdays, effective immediately.
The new schedule follows directives from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, focusing on enhancing convenience and reducing wait times for passport applications. The Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman Waheed, stated that the initiative is designed to streamline services and cater to public demand more effectively.
While emergency passport services for medical cases will continue around the clock, the addition of Saturday services offers greater flexibility for the general public.
The Saturday operations will be available at the Immigration Office in Malé City and two offices in Hulhumalé Phase 2, starting today. Tokens for passport processing will be issued between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., ensuring an organised and timely service experience.
