Majeedhee Magu reopened following Fruit Tree Apple shop warehouse fire

Following Thursday's fire at the Fruit Tree Apple shop warehouse on Majeedhee Magu, sections of the damaged building, deemed unsafe, have been demolished.
In a statement shared on social media, Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar announced that the debris from the demolished portion of the building, where the fire originated, had been removed, and the clean-up operation had been completed.
He added that Majeedhee Magu, which had been closed in the aftermath of the fire, has now been reopened.
The Minister praised the efforts of public works employees involved in the demolition and cleaning of the affected area, and spoke of their dedication in swiftly addressing the aftermath of the incident.
The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Thursday, was reported at 4:20 a.m., according to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 5:27 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 6:00 a.m.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has identified 33 individuals from 10 households as being in need of temporary shelter due to smoke damage and structural issues caused by the fire. Of these, 14 are Maldivians and 19 are foreigners.
NDMA has confirmed that temporary accommodation and food have been provided for 14 Maldivians and eight foreigners from five households.
The swift response and collaborative efforts of the relevant authorities have helped mitigate the disruption caused by the incident, ensuring the safety and well-being of affected residents.
