The Maldives Clean Environment Project has concluded a three-day training programme in Th. Guraidhoo, marking an important step towards improved environmental management across multiple islands.
During the sessions held from January 21 to 23, representatives from four islands – Th. Guraidhoo, Th. Vandhoo, Th. Madifushi and M. Kolhufushi – participated in intensive training focused on waste management operations. The programme equipped participants with both practical techniques and community engagement strategies, preparing them to serve as environmental educators in their respective communities.
The training emphasised hands-on experience in waste management practices, ensuring participants gained the necessary skills to implement effective systems upon their return. These newly trained educators will play a vital role in transforming their island communities through improved waste management practices.
The Maldives Clean Environment Project, implemented by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy (MOCCEE) with support from the World Bank, continues to work towards enhancing environmental practices across the island nation. The successful completion of this training programme represents another step towards achieving these goals at the community level.
