President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm greetings to the Governor-General of Australia, Samantha Joy Mostyn AC, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese MP, in celebration of Australia Day, observed annually on January 26.

In separate messages addressed to the Australian leaders, President Dr Muizzu conveyed best wishes on behalf of the Maldivian Government and its people. He highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations and expressed gratitude for Australia’s continued support in key areas such as maritime security and climate change initiatives.

Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the Maldives-Australia bilateral relationship, the President also wished good health and wellbeing for the Australian leaders and extended hopes for the peace, prosperity, and advancement of the Australian people.

President Dr Muizzu marked the occasion on his official ‘X’ account, further underscoring the significance of Australia Day. The Maldives and Australia established diplomatic ties on January 25, 1974, and share nearly five decades of collaboration and mutual support.
