The Maldivian Government has announced the "Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu 2025," an event aimed at showcasing local talent, creativity, and innovation.

Scheduled to be held from May 23 - 31, 2025, the exhibition will take place at Hulhumalé Central Park and promises to be an expansive platform for artisans, innovators, and businesses.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Dr Aishath Shahudha Abdulla, shared that the exhibition will be unlike any of its predecessors.

Beyond its traditional focus on local products, this year’s event will embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI), digitisation, and technological innovation, opening new avenues for building a skilled and sustainable economy.

Organised by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the exhibition will welcome participation from individuals, business companies, educational institutions, and people with special needs.

Foreign nationals are also encouraged to participate in the digitisation and innovation categories, a move Dr Shahudha highlighted as an opportunity to foster collaboration and inspire young professionals within the country.

The exhibition is divided into five thematic areas, each designed to spotlight a different aspect of Maldivian talent and creativity:

  • Dhiveheenge Ufehduntherikamuge Maurazu (Contested District): Featuring items from 81 categories, including AI, digital innovations, and technological advancements.
  • The Digital and Innovation District: Dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge products and research grants for digital and technological innovations.
  • The Entertainment District
  • The Creative Economy District
  • Marketplace

The event stems from an idea sparked by tourists’ interest in locally-made products at Authentic Maldives, a BCC initiative.

Dr Shahudha emphasised that the exhibition will help local artisans understand what is needed to elevate their craft to an international standard, further enabling access to foreign markets.
