The Bank of Maldives (BML) has formalised an agreement with the Muraidhoo Island Council to introduce ATM services to the island, marking a significant step towards enhancing financial accessibility across the Maldives.
The agreement was finalised during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Muraidhoo as part of his tour of islands in the North Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Alifu Atoll). The document was signed by BML Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and Muraidhoo Council President Ali Sinan.
This initiative aligns with the Bank of Maldives' broader strategy to expand ATM services nationwide, which commenced in November 2024. The ongoing effort is part of a Government-backed plan to improve financial inclusion and ensure convenient banking services reach every island in the Maldives by the end of the year.
At present, BML operates 150 ATMs across 90 islands, with additional plans to set up ATM facilities in 17 more islands by March this year.
