President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has defended his Administration against criticism of making unplanned promises, emphasising that each commitment follows detailed implementation strategies.
Speaking at a community meeting at Muraidhoo School during his ongoing tour of North Thiladhunmathi Atoll (Haa Alifu Atoll), he stressed that Government initiatives are announced only after thorough planning, consultation, and establishing clear implementation pathways.
While acknowledging that economic priorities and budget constraints delayed projects last year, the President confirmed that new pathways for progress have been identified. Both stalled and new projects will commence under the recently approved budget, with visible progress expected throughout this and next year.
For Muraidhoo’s pressing concerns, President Dr Muizzu announced that the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been mobilised to resolve the harbour's critical issues. MTCC will remain on-site until the breakwater problem is fully addressed, after which road development projects will commence within his term.
The Administration's development agenda for Muraidhoo encompasses healthcare service enhancement matched to population demands and comprehensive educational facility establishment. The President outlined systematic improvements to school facilities while emphasising equitable healthcare access for all residents.
In response to community needs, President Dr Muizzu detailed plans for sports and recreational facilities on the island. These developments will follow a systematic implementation schedule while promoting public health and athletics.
The President highlighted his Administration's approach of direct community consultation to identify and prioritise pressing issues. Ongoing discussions with relevant Ministries are facilitating both stalled and upcoming projects, with positive progress reported.
For nationwide development, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to establishing basic services and necessary human resources across all islands.
The visit to Muraidhoo focused on understanding local concerns and explaining the Government's expedited approach to fulfilling development promises. The Presdient highlighted that these interactions help his Administration better understand the sensitivity and importance of community needs, enabling more effective response strategies.
